| Abstract: | A comprehensive, and profusely illustrated, history of Shenandoah National Park. Rockingham County sites are noted throughout the history. Illustrations include Sarah Harris Gardner Maiden, several Hensley men and the Hensley cemetery, a view overlooking Rockingham County from Skyline Drive, and the Swift Run Gap monument. Appendices include lists of cemeteries in the Park, owners of land condemned in the 1930's for the Park and the land's value, a list of land owners selling voluntarily to the Federal Government, and heads of families living on Park land in 1935. |
